Sophie L-K

I am a textile artist creating scenes of London with only scraps and my sewing machine. I capture the juxtapositions of the hard concrete and steel of London architecture with the soft, textural layers of fabric. My interest in the cityscape and in fabric stems partly from my study of anthropology and my work for TfL. I developed an innovative way of working, and love to reuse, giving unwanted textiles a new purpose in my art.

I started my art in March 2021 and in this time I have had a mini solo exhibition at the Arts Depot, North Finchley (March 2021) as well as works included in their 2021 Winter Exhibition. I have had my art included in the local press

and given a talk at North London Stitch and Textiles. I have also sold art at fairs, including the Contemporary Textile Fair (Teddington).

Please get in contact if you are interested in purchasing any artworks. I am always looking for more scenes to sew and happy to take commissions to sew your favourite scene.

Feedback following talk at North London Stitch and Textiles, February 2022:

"Many thanks for your very interesting and informative talk - none of us could believe it was your first time.  It was also lovely to see your beautiful work.  It was great to see that people could recognise places and landscapes they had visited.

I am sure you will be very successful and wish you all the very best."
